Zhu Peifen
As the associate professor at the School of Foreign Languages in SIFT, Zhu Peifen mainly teaches the interpretation courses to the undergraduates and graduate students majoring in English.
She returned to the country after the simultaneous interpretation for the European Community (Brussels) in 1989 and started the interpretation course in SIFT. Her major research areas include the differences between English and Chinese, English to Chinese interpretation study and practice, and business English. Her two works were published: Practical English to Chinese Interpretation Skills and New Practical English to Chinese Interpretation Skills. As the first author, she wrote Business English Interpretation Course. And she cooperated with others to publish International Finance Oral English and Foreign Economic Relations and Trade English Correspondence and Negotiation. The papers she wrote include "Overcoming Interpretation Obstacles", "Interpretation and the Students' Language Competence", "Developing the Students' Business Communication Ability with the Task-based Teaching Approach", and "The Application of the Multimedia Teaching Method in the Business English Interpretation Teaching".
In addition to teaching in the institute, she also did simultaneous interpretation for many international conferences so that she has abundant interpretation experience. From 1995 to 1998, she was the second secretary in the business department of Chinese embassy in Egypt. And in the first half year of 2003, she was the visiting scholar in Britain.
Presently, the business English interpretation practice project team led by her has finished the first version of the software - "Business English Interpretation Step-by-step Training". And the content of the software will be increased in the future. She would like to cooperate with the students who are willing to be engaged in the English to Chinese interpretation research and practice so as to achieve great success in the field of interpretation.
